Dear OMSA Parents and Stakeholders,
Old Main STREAM Academy’s 2025–26 results reflect strong academic performance. In grades 3–8, OMSA’s reading proficiency rate was 63.1%, compared with 55.7% statewide. In mathematics, OMSA achieved 78.1% proficiency, compared with 59.6% statewide. OMSA also earned a B School Performance Grade.
An analysis of NCDPI’s published results places OMSA approximately within the top 27% of schools in reading and top 12% in mathematics among schools reporting exact numerical proficiency rates for grades 3–8.*
During the current school year, OMSA is experiencing personnel changes—some anticipated and others unexpected. We recognize that job satisfaction is closely connected to quality of life, and we respect individuals’ decisions about their professional paths. We appreciate the contributions of those who have served our school.
OMSA remains committed to continued academic growth, organizational stability, and consistent support for students and families. Transitions provide an opportunity to reassess needs, clarify responsibilities, and strengthen our work. We welcome educators who share OMSA’s vision, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and are committed to helping students learn and grow.
We are also placing renewed emphasis on informed school choice, clear promotion and retention standards, and timely academic intervention. Families should understand our educational approach, the expectations for student progress, and the supports available when students encounter difficulties. These expectations must be communicated consistently and paired with early identification of learning needs, documented interventions, and ongoing family engagement.
Central to this work is the OMSA Educational Model, which connects STREAM instruction, place-based learning, and community knowledge with rigorous academic preparation. Our responsibility is to put this model into practice consistently—in our classrooms, our decisions, and our relationships with students and families.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we build on OMSA’s accomplishments and address the work ahead.
Respectfully,
OMSA Board of Directors
