Students on bus

The first twenty days have flown by at Old Main STREAM Academy, and what an incredible start it has been! Our Firebirds and families are settling into routines, classrooms are buzzing with energy, and the spirit of learning is alive throughout our school. As we move into the coming months filled with exciting events, now is the perfect time to highlight what makes our school unique—our OMSA Educational Model.

At the heart of this model is rigor. OMSA is committed to protecting instructional time and creating an environment where students are consistently challenged to grow academically and personally. But rigor alone is not enough. A second, equally important pillar is partnership with parents and families.

Parents and grandparents play a powerful role in shaping a child’s response to learning. Simple, consistent actions at home make a tremendous difference. Daily routines such as checking homework folders, setting clear expectations for homework, maintaining communication with teachers, and ensuring time for reading each night all help Firebirds soar higher. Just as important is strong attendance and arriving on time. Every day in school counts, and being present from the first bell to the last helps students stay on track academically and socially.

Did You Know? Missing just two days a month adds up to nearly 20 days of lost learning in a school year—almost a full month of instruction! And even small amounts of tardiness can add up, causing students to miss critical opening lessons and routines.

OMSA founders will be offering professional development sessions on our OMSA Educational Model on September 23. These sessions will provide OMSA faculty and staff with a deeper understanding of the OMSA Educational Model and practical ways to support student success. We can offer professional development for our parents and stakeholders as well!

If you are interested in attending, please let the front office know. We look forward to welcoming you and continuing to build a strong partnership between school, home, and community—because when we work together, our Firebirds truly take flight.
